Kate Brooke is a bassist specialising in period performance. She studied at the Royal College of Music with Peter Buckoke and during this time gained places on both the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment Experience for Young Players and the London Symphony Orchestra String Scheme. After graduation she went on to do a Postgraduate Diploma in Historical Performance at the Royal Academy of Music where she was taught by Chi-chi Nwanoku, supported by a Winifred Disney Award. She graduated with distinction in 2005 and has since been a busy freelancer, based in London and travelling the world whenever possible. Kate works regularly with the leading period instrument ensembles in the UK including The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Classical Opera, The Hanover Band, Brecon Baroque, The Old Street Band (English Touring Opera), The Feinstein Ensemble, Florilegium, The English Concert, Academy of Ancient Music and Gabrieli Consort & Players.
